- Strong evidence-base on the impact of mentoring supported by a longitudinal research study.
- Goodman has helped Raise to reach more than 16,000 young people across Australia
- Goodman’s multi-year funding commitment also includes skilled volunteering, advocacy and wraparound support.
Youth mental health is a pressing issue in Australia, with suicide a leading cause of death for young people. One in four Australian young people face a mental health condition each year, and many report feeling negative about the future. In the midst of this mental health crisis, only a minority of teens have a trusted adult to turn to for support.
Raise aims to significantly improve youth wellbeing by connecting teens with trained, trusted mentors. Its longstanding, weekly one-to-one mentoring program for 13 to 16-year-olds is supported by industry-leading training for mentors, deep connections to schools, qualified program counsellors and a rigorous evaluation process.
The aim is to help young people thrive through adolescence and learn to believe in themselves and others. These skills, when gained as a teen, can support them through their entire life.
