How Girls With Gems found a home for its next chapter with Goodman

From a small Sydney boutique to one of Australia's leading high-end fashion retailers, Girls With Gems has built something remarkable since founders Lefka Georgantis and her daughter Lia opened their doors in 2012.

Today the business spans more than 50 fashion brands, a thriving e-commerce operation and its own in-house label, Sneaky Link, and needed a headquarters that could match its momentum.

By partnering with Goodman, the team found a flexible new home that brought its warehouse, office and design room together under one roof, supporting greater efficiency, collaboration and the capacity to keep scaling.

When space becomes the constraint

Like many growing businesses, Girls With Gems reached a point where its existing premises could no longer keep pace with demand.

What had once worked for a smaller operation was becoming increasingly difficult to manage as inventory, headcount and online sales accelerated.

"We had a little shed out the back where we used to hold our inventory," says John Halias, Chief Operations Officer at Girls With Gems. "We were holding maybe three or four thousand units then. Now we're holding about 50,000."

Dee Adam, Head of Operations, says maintaining efficiency had become increasingly difficult to sustain."We were growing, but our space was starting to hold us back” she says. “Not being able to pick and pack with speed really cramped us and limited what we could do operationally."

Finding the right fit

Determined to find a long-term solution, the team spent more than 12 months searching - exploring warehouses across Sydney and evaluating third-party logistics providers before finding a home with Goodman that could support the business immediately and scale alongside it into the future.

Initially, Halias had reservations about the size.

"I thought it was way too big," he says. "Now, if we'd taken the smaller warehouse we were originally looking at, we'd probably already be thinking about moving again."

The refurbished facility offered the capacity, flexibility and presentation the team was looking for along with the opportunity to bring every part of the business under one roof.

Working with Goodman was a very positive process," Halias says. "They were very transparent throughout and open to finding the right outcome for our business. It was a genuinely pleasant experience.

Bringing the business together

Since relocating, Girls With Gems has consolidated its warehouse, design room and office operations into a single headquarters.

For the first time, design, marketing, customer service and operations teams are working under one roof.

"Everyone's got their own space now," says Halias. "The design team can do what they need to do. Marketing has an epic content space, customer service has its own area, and the warehouse team can operate more efficiently than ever. It's completely changed how we operate. Communication and collaboration have improved tremendously."

Efficiency at scale

The impact on operations has been immediate.

With significantly more warehouse space and improved workflows, order fulfilment and inventory management are faster and more precise than before.

"Our daily output has increased dramatically," says Adam. "Finding products is easier, receiving stock is easier, and being able to slot products away and pick orders efficiently has made a huge difference."

The benefits become particularly evident during major product launches. A recent Sneaky Link collection, created in collaboration with influencer Ella Squire, generated a significant spike in orders.

"On a day like today, we'll process thousands of orders," says Halias. "We simply couldn't have managed this volume as efficiently in our previous space."

The additional capacity has not only improved day-to-day operations. It has given the business the room and flexibility to pursue its next chapter with confidence.

More than a workplace

While operational performance drove the decision to move, creating a space that reflected the ambition of the brand was equally important.

As a fashion business built on presentation, creativity and customer experience, Girls With Gems wanted a headquarters that matched where the business was heading.

"The most important thing for us was creating a place where people love coming to work," says Halias. "The bones of the space were incredible - the ceilings, the lighting, the amenities. It felt like somewhere our team would genuinely enjoy spending time."

From team events and shared lunches to collaborative workspaces and premium amenities, the new headquarters has become more than a logistics base. It has become a home for the business and the people behind it.

Ready for what's next

Today, Girls With Gems has the space, flexibility and operational foundation it needs to expand with confidence.

With warehouse, design room and office functions working in sync, the business is better positioned to scale while maintaining the customer experience and team culture that have underpinned its success.

"This space is allowing us to scale and expand comfortably and efficiently," says Halias.

Looking around now and seeing what we've built, seeing everyone working together and enjoying what they do - it feels like home.

For a business that began with a boutique and a shed out the back, the move is more than a change of address. It marks the start of the next chapter.
