Changing the game: delivering CourtSide's revolutionary basketball hub
Game
Changer
CourtSide’s vision was to become Australia’s first basketball retail mega-centre. It pioneered a new concept combining elite-level full-size basketball, high-performance training and recovery facilities with hospitality and flagship retail - all under one roof.
Needing a prime location combined with scale, accessibility and infrastructure to support this unique offering - which also has spectator seating and expansive retail space - CourtSide partnered with Goodman Group.
Goodman curated a custom end-to-end solution for CourtSide, guiding planning, design development and delivery of its 9,700-square-metre facility at Port Central. The resulting dual-purpose sporting and lifestyle precinct supports elite athletes, grassroots players, basketball fans and the wider community alike.
CourtSide CEO and Co-Founder, Chris Moore said
The relationship with Goodman has been great. They knew the place really well, they knew the ins and outs, and played a critical role in getting us to where we are.
A home court advantage
As Port Melbourne evolves from a historic industrial precinct into an exciting mixed-use destination, Port Central proved the ideal location for CourtSide’s ambitious concept. Positioned close to the West Gate Freeway and well-serviced by public transport, the facility is easily accessible from Melbourne’s CBD and surrounding suburbs.
This central location unlocks a broad audience for CourtSide - from aspiring young athletes and professional players to sneaker enthusiasts, tourists and locals. CourtSide has driven substantial increases in foot traffic, contributing to the precinct’s vibrant atmosphere.
