Goodman collaborated with long-term customer McCormick, a high-profile global food manufacturer, to develop a 22,600 sqm multi-purpose facility at Moorabbin Airport, south-east of Melbourne.
Best known for producing some of Australia’s favourite flavours and food products including Aeroplane Jelly, McCormick consolidated its Australian and New Zealand head office and distribution centres into a state-of-the-art facility, delivering on its vision to create a shared culture between its warehouse and office staff, within a highly sustainable space.
The new Moorabbin Airport facility includes a Technical Innovation Centre, warehouse space and contemporary corporate offices. It comprises four laboratories and three kitchens including a customer-facing kitchen and mock café – providing an opportunity to engage directly with consumers for food demonstrations and product testing.
The new purpose-built facility showcases McCormick as a leader in food manufacturing and cements Melbourne as a key location within the sector.
Located just minutes from the Nepean Highway and EastLink, McCormick’s facility provides an unrivalled transportation network with easy access to key suppliers and dedicated consumers, resulting in highly efficient production and supply processes.
The facility’s striking architectural design and fit-out meets stringent FM Global High Protection Rating criteria – a significantly higher rating than Australian Safety Standards for food safety and quality.
McCormick’s delivery capabilities are further supported by automated selective rack and pallet flow facilities in the warehouse, holding up to 12,000 units. An innovative 3,600 square metre super-canopy dramatically increases the warehouse’s ability to accommodate more trucks in a safe environment, regardless of weather conditions.
