Retail customer story: Amart Furniture

Founded in Queensland in 1970, Amart Furniture is the largest discount furniture and bedding retailer in Queensland and northern NSW, with over 50 big box retail outlets nationwide.

Amart Furniture has been a customer of Goodman since 2013 occupying 37,564 sqm at Keylink Industrial Estate (South) in Sydney, Australia.

Challange

Amart Furniture were looking to consolidate 11 separate Brisbane warehouses into one large distribution facility, as well as bring together their National Support Centre and head office under one roof.

Other considerations included:

  • a strategic location to enhance container through put and access to its store network
  • substantially improve the business’s supply chain and efficiency
  • amalgamate and integrate their head office and operational workforce
  • immediate access to Brisbane’s motorway network.

Goodman solution

Rochedale Motorway Estate ticked all the boxes, providing Amart Furniture with a site that could accommodate its size, location, expansion and operational needs.

Strategically located adjacent to the Gateway Motorway in Rochedale, the estate enables easy access to Brisbane’s motorway network with direct connections to the port and airport, and access to Brisbane’s metropolitan areas.

Goodman worked closely with Amart to design and deliver a 50,571 sqm facility specific to their logistics, warehousing and office space requirements.

Results

Goodman delivered a purpose-built facility that successfully consolidated Amart Furniture's National Support Centre, head office and 11 distribution centres into one brand new comprising 48,507 sqm of warehouse and 2,064 sqm of office space.

Special features include:

  • full drive around access
  • 38 recessed docks
  • 25m drive-through canopy
  • 30m semi cantilevered awning
  • 3,500 sqm warehouse mezzanine
  • 100 kw solar PV system
  • fire system upgraded for expanded plastics/furniture.
