Goodman to develop 58,225 sqm across two facilities for DHL at Oakdale Industrial Estate in western Sydney

Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Goodman Group (Goodman or Group) is pleased to announce the approved development of two new purpose-built facilities totalling 58,225 sqm for DHL Supply Chain (DHL) at Oakdale Industrial Estate (Estate), in Horsley Park, and the regional road construction commencement of Old Wallgrove Road.

The two new facilities will allow DHL to service increasing customer growth in the consumer, retail and healthcare sectors. Both facilities have been pre-leased on a ten year term, with completion expected in May 2016. The first development will comprise a 27,145 sqm facility, encompassing a 25,545 sqm warehouse, 1,200 sqm two level office and 151 parking spaces. The building features a contiguous hardstand on the eastern façade, providing a 50m deep shared hardstand with the neighbouring DHL facility.

The second development will consist of a 31,080 sqm warehouse and distribution facility, with a 29,480 sqm warehouse with full drive-around capability, 1,200 sqm two level office and 200 car parking spaces. Approximately 22,280 sqm of the warehouse will be temperature controlled for the storage of pharmaceutical products.

Goodman General Manager Australia, Jason Little said: “DHL is a significant Goodman customer, currently occupying 252,381 sqm of space across our Australian portfolio. DHL is also one of the Group’s largest customers globally, with a relationship spanning 29 properties across nine countries. We are pleased to be developing the new facilities for DHL at Oakdale Industrial Estate, which demonstrates our close working relationship and understanding of their business needs.”

Oakdale Industrial Estate, is a joint venture site between Goodman and Brickworks. The Estate currently comprises four DHL occupied, purpose-built warehouse facilities and has approximately 17 hectares of developable land remaining. On completion of the two new facilities, DHL will occupy a total of 146,715 sqm across six facilities within the Estate.

Access from Oakdale Industrial Estate to the M4 and M7 Motorways is via Wallgrove Road and Old Wallgrove Road. Goodman has recently entered into a Voluntary Planning Agreement with the NSW State Government to construct a $23m regional road upgrade of the section of Old Wallgrove Road between Roberts Road and the Estate. When completed, the road upgrade will provide four lanes of separated carriageways, direct to Oakdale Industrial Estate, substantially improving access for DHL and future customers at the Estate.

“Undertaking these significant infrastructure works demonstrates Goodman’s commitment to delivering premium master-planned industrial estates in highly sought after locations close to key arterials.” Mr Little added.
